Nothing really changes

Those 'outliers' like me may remember the television series 'The Waltons'. For those who don't know/remember it, the programme was about a family growing up in rural Virginia during the Great Depression and World War Two. Quoting from Wikipedia, 'In the signature scene that closed every episode, the family house was enveloped in darkness save for a light in an upstairs window. Through voice-overs, two or more characters had a very brief conversation, often humourous and related to the episode, and then bade each other good-night.'

As I remember it, the programme typically ended with:
Goodnight John boy
Goodnight Mary Ellen

Twitterland is really like 'The Watons'

Last night on Twitterland, last tweets read as follows:
@damienmulley - sleep. G'night t'land
@alancostello - night all :)
@icedcoffee - night
@lexia - right, I'm off too. NN all
@TrustTommy - G'night t'land

In life, everything changes, yet everything stays the same.

My mum loved the Waltons. Still does (rented it recently).
And I guess you're right, we still seek that friendship and closeness with each other.
